We are a downtown prayer room hosting God’s presence and contending together for a move of God in Colorado Springs.

Who We Are

PRAY | DOWNTOWN is the prayer ministry of Boulder Street Church  - Our expression of prayer is grounded in our three priorities: Presence Centered, Prayer Based, Wholehearted People.

Our Aim

We are seeking to establish a corporate altar in our city, where believers from Boulder Street Church and across congregations can gather as priests to minister to the Lord in the spirit of the Tent of David (worship + prayer) and change the spiritual atmosphere in our city and beyond, unto the preparation for the Lord’s return.

Our Story

In the early 1900s, the founder of Colorado Springs, General William Palmer, donated land to build churches in the city. Our building was one of them. It was constructed to be an outpost to reach the east side of downtown Colorado Springs. The building housed the original congregation for many years, it was home to a worship and prayer movement of young adults in the early 1900s, it provided space for a group of former slaves and their families to worship God, and more as the years went on.

This historical building has housed various congregations who, through world wars and in times of peace, from economic depression into the digital age, during the civil rights movement, the modern worship movement, through worldwide pandemics, and up to today, have all worshiped and prayed in these walls.

Boulder Street Church has been filled with faithful intercessors contending at the heart of our city, seeking to rebuild the Tent of David (worship + prayer) through the local church in order that the people of our region would encounter the Lord. Prayer is a part of our specific assignment as the Body of Believers. We take our call as Christ followers to be priests who minister to Him.

We worship because he’s worthy, and we pray because it matters!

We are all called to sing. We are all called to pray. We are committed to being a praying church. We believe that prayer is where the action is, that God does nothing but in response to prayer, and that prayer must be the engine of everything we do. We can’t do God’s part, and He won't do our part; everything we do is based in prayer.

The Perkins Story

After years of praying for a move of God in Colorado Springs and discipling young adults as a part of Desperation Ministries, Pastors Dan and Amy dreamed of a people who wanted to wholeheartedly follow Jesus and create a resting place for God in this city. Dan, Amy, and their two children, Aiden and Moriah, began leading prayer meetings in their home. God began to give a dream for being a part of a wholehearted people who are pursuing the presence of God and have a vibrant culture of prayer. That dream started to become a reality when they joined the team at Boulder Street Church in 2020.

In January 2023, Dan and Amy stepped in as the lead pastors of Boulder Street Church. Their heart is to build a resting place for the Lord with the local people. That we would be a worshiping and praying people who live with the aim to be wholehearted in every season and live for His reward. Who minister to the Lord first in worship, who partner with him in prayer, who are growing as disciples, and have a vision to make disciples in our city. As parents, business owners, nurses, students, and baristas, it is our privilege and honor to build a resting place where God would dwell in our midst. We want to come “In” to the presence of God and take it “Out” into our city.

We recognize the unique soil that has been cultivated at Boulder Street by the pastors and leaders before us. They have fought for spiritual health and healing. It is our honor to get to be rooted and planted in this soil. We know that the health of a plant is determined by the soil it is planted in. Our heart is to grow a thriving and fruitful people who are planted in the house of the Lord.

"The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar of Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing, to declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him" PSALM 92:12-15
